88I SEGURADORA DIGITAL
Brazil's first 100% digital insurance carrier, embedding nano-insurance into mobility, delivery, fintech, and e-commerce platforms.
Overview
88i Seguradora Digital was founded in 2018 as "88 Insurtech -- Insurance and BlockchAIn for Good," originally operating as an MGA and digital broker. In 2021 it became Brazil's first 100% digital insurance carrier, receiving approval from SUSEP (Superintendencia de Seguros Privados) to operate in its regulatory sandbox. In December 2025, SUSEP granted 88i its definitive operating authorization in the S4 segment -- the first sandbox-graduated insurer to achieve full carrier status in Brazil.
The company's model centers on episodic nano-insurance embedded directly into digital platforms across the gig economy. Rather than selling standalone policies, 88i integrates its products seamlessly into partner applications for mobility (ride-hailing and taxis), delivery, logistics, e-commerce, and fintech -- protecting both end consumers and service providers at the moment of need. Its B2B and B2B2C distribution model allows partner platforms to deploy insurance coverage in approximately four weeks.
By early 2026, the company had recorded more than 30 million transactions and was preparing for a Series A raise, supported by recurring profitability, three-digit annual growth, and reinsurance partnerships with global players Hannover Re and Scor Re.
