Overview

The Agents Council for Technology (ACT) is a program of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big "I") founded in January 1999 to provide a candid, action-oriented forum addressing the critical workflow and technology issues facing the independent agency system. For over 25 years, ACT has served as the premier neutral industry platform connecting agents, brokers, carriers, technology vendors, and industry thought leaders to collaborate on technology challenges and opportunities.

ACT brings together stakeholders across the independent agency ecosystem to share insights, identify shared challenges, and develop practical guidance helping agencies leverage technology effectively. The council conducts research, publishes recommendations, and creates resources addressing artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data management, customer experience, disaster planning, and other technology focus areas. The organization emphasizes practical progress over hype, focusing on building foundational infrastructure before pursuing cutting-edge technology adoption.

Through virtual workgroups, webinars, and industry events, ACT connects agents with peers, carriers, and technology providers, delivering actionable tools and education to help independent agencies grow and compete. Ron Berg has served as ACT Executive Director since 2013, leading the organization in collaboration with an annually appointed ACT Steering Committee.
