Overview
AEGIS General Insurance Agency (AGIA) is a full-service managing general agency and program administrator founded in 1977, specializing in a broad range of niche commercial and personal lines insurance programs. A wholly-owned subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, AEGIS General is licensed in all 50 states and represents A.M. Best "Excellent"-rated carriers. It operates through a network of regional offices with an independent agent distribution model.
K2 Insurance Services, AEGIS General's parent company, is backed by Warburg Pincus (acquired from Lee Equity Partners in 2022) and collectively underwrites and services over USD 2 billion annually in niche insurance premiums across 36 MGA programs. AEGIS General is one of K2's primary subsidiary brands and serves as the operating platform for numerous specialized insurance divisions including Aegis Agribusiness, Aegis Financial Lines, Aegis Executive Risks, and Aegis AH&GL.
In 2019, K2 formed K2 Claims Services to handle claims nationally across all product lines. In November 2024, AEGIS General launched Aegis Executive Risks (AER), a new management liability division led by a team with 60 years of combined experience in the professional lines MGA space.
