AFR Insurance (American Farmers & Ranchers Mutual Insurance Company) is an Oklahoma-based mutual insurance carrier with over 120 years of history serving rural and agricultural policyholders. Founded in 1905 when the Oklahoma Farmers Union established the Oklahoma Farmers Union Mutual Fire and Lightning Insurance Company to protect rural communities, the company evolved over decades into AFRMIC and is now recognized as one of the leading domestic insurance carriers in Oklahoma.

AFR distributes its products through a network of 165 independent agents serving more than 150 Oklahoma communities and neighboring states. As a mutual company, policyholders are also member-owners of the cooperative, aligning the company's interests with those it serves. The company has undergone significant technology modernization in recent years, migrating to the Sapiens digital platform to consolidate all lines of business onto a single system.

In 2024, 2025, and 2026, AFR Insurance was named to Forbes' America's Best Insurance Companies list, selected from among more than 3,100 eligible insurers -- a recognition underscoring the carrier's standing for customer service and financial stability among Oklahoma policyholders.
