Airmic (Association for Insurance & Risk)
Championing the societal and strategic value of risk management and insurance in a changing world.
Overview
Airmic (Association of Insurance and Risk Managers in Industry and Commerce) is the UK's largest and most vibrant professional membership organization for corporate insurance buyers and risk management professionals. Founded in 1963, Airmic represents a broad community of practitioners including risk managers, finance directors, internal auditors, company secretaries, and insurance managers working across multinational corporations, mid-market enterprises, charities, universities, and public sector organizations. Around three quarters of FTSE 100 companies are represented in its membership.
Airmic operates as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, governed by a board of directors elected from its membership, supported by a full-time London-based secretariat. The organization pursues its purpose -- championing the societal and strategic value of risk management and insurance -- through networking, professional development, thought leadership, advocacy, and representation. Its 60th anniversary in 2023 marked over six decades of shaping best practice in corporate risk management across the United Kingdom and beyond.
Member organizations collectively spend approximately GBP 12 billion annually on insurance premiums and GBP 90 million on risk management professional fees, making the Airmic community a significant force in the UK insurance and risk market.
