AKINOVA
Risk transfer dealing reinvented
Overview
AkinovA is a regulated digital marketplace for the transfer and trading of global insurance, reinsurance, and insurance-linked securities (ILS) risks. Founded in 2017 by Dr. Henri Winand in London, AkinovA holds a historic distinction as the first new regulated insurance marketplace established since Lloyd's of London obtained its parliamentary act in 1871.
AkinovA operates under a bespoke regulatory framework created by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), which granted AkinovA (Bermuda) Ltd. the first "Insurance Marketplace Provider" license in January 2021. This license defines AkinovA's role as a marketplace -- neither a broker nor a carrier -- enabling it to remain neutral and multi-broker while being regulated and globally authorized to facilitate risk trading for clients in 41 countries. The company is also FCA regulated and holds ISO 27001 and FSQS certifications.
The platform combines secure instant messaging with risk marketing, negotiation, deal discovery, price transparency, and transaction execution infrastructure, supported by a Clearing House for legal transformation, securitization, and settlement services. AkinovA has facilitated notable transactions including the first parametric cyber risk transfer in 2020, in partnership with Hiscox, Guy Carpenter, and PCS.
