Overview
Allianz SE is the world's largest insurance company and one of Europe's largest financial services groups, founded in Berlin in 1890 by insurance specialist Carl Thieme and banker Wilhelm Finck. Headquartered in Munich since 1949, Allianz operates in over 70 countries with more than 150 million customers worldwide. The group reported a record total business volume of EUR 179.8 billion and operating profit of EUR 16.0 billion for 2024, underpinned by strong performance across all three segments.
Allianz operates three core business segments: Property-Casualty Insurance (EUR 7.9B operating profit in 2024), Life/Health Insurance (EUR 5.5B operating profit), and Asset Management (EUR 3.2B operating profit with EUR 1.92 trillion in third-party AuM through PIMCO and Allianz Global Investors). Its Solvency II capitalization ratio stood at 209% as of year-end 2024.
The company has made significant investments in AI and digital transformation.
