The company was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Durham, North Carolina.

ASPIDA operates through a digital-first platform designed to serve independent financial professionals and their clients seeking retirement income solutions. In October 2025, the company introduced the DreamPath Registered Index-Linked Annuity, which integrates with Apple Wallet to give policyholders real-time contract value visibility on iPhone and Apple Watch. In April 2026, ASPIDA added a Bitcoin-linked index option to its Synergy Choice Fixed Index Annuity through a partnership with Market Synergy Group and BlackRock.

ASPIDA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aspida Holdings Ltd., which is an indirect subsidiary of Ares Management Corporation, a global alternative asset manager with over USD 623 billion in assets under management. Aspida Holdings held USD 27.4 billion in total assets as of Q3 2025 and also operates a Bermuda-domiciled reinsurance platform. ASPIDA is rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best.
