Astaara
Specialist maritime cyber insurance and risk management -- combining underwriting, advisory, and analytics to protect the global shipping and ports sector.
Overview
Astaara is a Guernsey-based specialist MGA offering an integrated combination of cyber risk advisory, insurance underwriting, and analytics exclusively focused on the maritime sector. Founded in 2019, the company was built around the insight that maritime organisations face a uniquely complex cyber exposure spanning both shipborne and shore-based operations -- an exposure that traditional insurance products were not designed to cover holistically.
The company operates through three integrated business units: Astaara Risk Management (cyber advisory), Astaara Underwriting (insurance), and Astaara Analytics (data-driven risk intelligence). This three-pillar model allows Astaara to serve clients across the full risk lifecycle -- from initial cyber posture assessment through to insurance placement and ongoing analytics-driven monitoring.
Astaara received significant investment from the West of England P&I Club at launch in 2020 and has steadily grown its underwriting capacity from USD 12.5 million at inception to USD 27.5 million as of October 2025, with 100% A- or better-rated capacity led by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
