biBerk is a direct-to-consumer small business insurance carrier operating as part of the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group. Founded in 2015 and launched in 2016, biBerk was built to solve a persistent problem in commercial insurance: obtaining a policy for a small business was complicated, time-consuming, and expensive. By eliminating broker intermediaries and replacing them with an automated online platform, biBerk enables small business owners to get a quote, purchase a policy, and receive immediate coverage entirely online -- typically in under five minutes.

The company operates across all 50 US states, covering more than 200,000 small businesses and offering eight commercial insurance lines. Its direct-to-consumer model passes broker-fee savings directly to policyholders, advertising premiums up to 20% lower than comparable broker-placed coverage. Policies are underwritten by four AM Best A++-rated Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries: Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company (NAIC 10391), Wellfleet Insurance Company (NAIC 32280), National Liability & Fire Insurance Company (NAIC 20052), and Wellfleet New York Insurance Company (NAIC 20931).

biBerk also operates a wholesale partner channel called Carrier Connection, giving retail agents and brokers access to its products through approved wholesaler partners. As of 2025, the platform supports more than 15,000 active agent and broker users. The company employs nearly 500 people distributed across more than 30 US states.
