Buckle is a technology-driven insurance company that owns and operates Gateway Insurance Company, a licensed admitted carrier with coverage in over 43 states. Originally founded in 2017 as a gig economy insurtech providing rideshare and delivery driver insurance, Buckle pivoted in 2023 to focus on fronting carrier services for managing general agents (MGAs). Through Gateway Insurance and relationships with top reinsurance panels, Buckle provides access to auto, commercial, and specialty markets.

Buckle's fronting strategy is designed to eliminate the high costs traditionally associated with fronting arrangements, positioning itself as a low-cost, streamlined fronting platform. The company works hand in hand with MGA partners to develop strategies and agreements that help maximize growth and profits, with a focus on new ventures, expansion efforts, and book rolls.

In late 2024, Buckle experienced significant financial distress after its carrier subsidiary Gateway Insurance was affected by the Vesttoo reinsurance fraud through agreements with the Corinthian Group. Gateway terminated or suspended its MGA programs and ceased writing new business. Buckle Services, LLC filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the District of Delaware, while the parent entity Buckle Corp continues to pursue a capital restoration strategy for Gateway.
