Overview
Constellation Insurance is a diversified financial services group founded in 2019 by Anurag Chandra, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company was established with USD 500 million in startup capital from two of the world's largest long-term institutional investors: Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDPQ) and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP). Constellation operates as a holdings company that invests in and manages insurance subsidiaries across North America and Latin America.
The company completed its inaugural acquisition of Ohio National Financial Services in March 2022 for USD 1 billion, integrating its annuity and life insurance operations into the AuguStar Life and AuguStar Retirement brands. As of late 2022, Constellation collectively held over USD 34 billion in total assets under management. In 2024, Constellation Re closed a USD 10 billion block reinsurance transaction with Prudential Financial, marking a significant milestone in its reinsurance strategy.
The company's insurance subsidiaries maintain an A (Excellent) rating from Fitch. In 2025, AuguStar Retirement completed its first full year of sales, generating USD 2.5 billion in revenue, while AuguStar Seguros completed rebranding of its Latin American operations in Chile and Peru.
