Overview

Grange Insurance is a Columbus, Ohio-based mutual property and casualty insurance carrier founded in 1935. The company traces its origins to an arrangement with Ohio State Grange members and has grown from insuring Central Ohio farmers into a regional insurer serving nearly 700,000 policyholders across 13 states. As a mutual company, Grange is owned by its policyholders rather than external shareholders, aligning its long-term interests with those it serves.

The company distributes all of its products exclusively through a network of approximately 3,600 independent agents, a model it has maintained since inception. Grange Enterprise -- the parent organization -- encompasses Grange Insurance and Integrity Insurance, a Wisconsin-based affiliate brought into the group in 2002 that expanded the enterprise into Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota. Together the group holds nearly USD 3.4 billion in total assets.

AM Best has reaffirmed Grange Insurance and its affiliate Integrity Insurance at A (Excellent) with a stable outlook continuously for more than 50 years. In August 2025, AM Best also assigned an Innovation Assessment of Prominent, placing Grange in the top 10% of companies reviewed -- reflecting ongoing investment in digital agent tools, digital claims workflows, and core system modernization.
