Overview

Auto Data Direct, Inc. (ADD) was founded in September 1999 by Jim Taylor, Ben Taylor, and Chris Gamache in Tallahassee, Florida -- strategically located one mile from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) offices. The company was built to provide fast, accurate, real-time access to Florida motor vehicle, vessel, and driver license records for businesses with permissible use under the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). In 2018, ADD was acquired by Reynolds and Reynolds, aligning it with sister company Secure Title Administration and significantly expanding its resources and market reach.

Since its founding, ADD has grown from a Florida-focused data provider into a national platform covering over 40 jurisdictions. The company has executed several strategic acquisitions in 2024, including Opus VTR (vehicle titling and registration software for automotive and specialty dealers), USA ELT (electronic lien and titling services), and Florida ETR (print-on-demand temporary tags), and launched VTR50 in 2025 to extend title and registration processing to all 50 states. ADD serves insurance companies, auto dealers, lenders, government entities, attorneys, auto recyclers, and private investigators.
