Overview

ROOK is a health data API and SDK platform that enables software companies, insurers, wellness platforms, and healthcare providers to integrate wearable device data from 400+ sources through a single connection. Founded in 2019 by biomedical engineers Marco Benitez, Daniel Martinez Aguilar, and Jose Ivan Esquivel Mendoza, the company began as a heart rate monitoring tool for coaches and gyms before pivoting to a B2B API model.

ROOK's platform normalizes, standardizes, and deduplicates health metrics across a wide ecosystem of wearable devices and health applications -- including Apple Health, Garmin, Fitbit, Oura, Withings, Dexcom, Whoop, Polar, Strava, Google Health Connect, Samsung Health, and Xiaomi. The result is a single, consistent data layer that downstream products can build on without managing individual device integrations.

For insurance, ROOK enables carriers and insurtechs to access wearable data for wellness-linked products, usage-based insurance, and health engagement programs. The platform is HIPAA-aligned, GDPR compliant, and FHIR compliant, making it suitable for health and insurance use cases where data governance is critical.
