Overview

BreezoMeter was an Israeli environmental data company founded in 2014 by Technion Institute graduates Ran Korber (CEO), Ziv Lautman (CMO), and Emil Fisher (CTO). The company built a hyperlocal environmental intelligence platform delivering real-time air quality, pollen, wildfire, and weather data via REST APIs to enterprises across insurance, smart home, mobility, health, and real estate sectors.

At its peak, BreezoMeter synthesized data from over 11 million sources -- including governmental monitoring stations, satellites, weather models, IoT sensors, and the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) -- to serve over 400 million users worldwide across 28+ countries. Its air quality data powered Apple's iOS Weather app and its technology was embedded in products from Dyson, Tesla, Daikin, Tata Motors, L'Oreal, and others.

In September 2022, Google acquired BreezoMeter for an estimated USD 200-250M -- the largest climate tech exit in Israel at the time. The technology has since been integrated into Google Maps Platform as the Air Quality, Pollen, and Solar environment APIs. The breezometer.com domain now redirects to Google Maps Platform.

Products & Services

Air Quality API

Key Features

  • Street-level air quality resolution in 90+ countries
  • Real-time and 96-hour forecast data
  • Multiple AQI standard indexes (US EPA, EU, China, etc.)
  • Pollutant breakdown (PM2.5, PM10, ozone, NO2, SO2, CO)
  • Health risk categorization by location

Target Users: Carriers, MGAs, health insurers, reinsurers, smart home OEMs

Pollen API

Real-time and forecast pollen data for allergy risk applications and life/health insurance underwriting.

Key Features

  • Tree, grass, and weed pollen type breakdowns
  • Regional pollen season tracking
  • Daily and hourly forecast data
  • Integration with health risk scoring

Target Users: Life and health carriers, consumer wellness apps, agricultural insurers

Active Fires / Wildfire Tracker API

Real-time wildfire detection and perimeter tracking launched in August 2021. Fused satellite imagery, sensor data, and local eyewitness reports to identify wildfire edges and spread direction in real time.

Key Features

  • Real-time wildfire perimeter detection
  • Spread direction and rate of spread modeling
  • Smoke and air quality overlay for affected zones
  • Alert triggers for at-risk properties

Target Users: P&C carriers underwriting wildfire exposure, reinsurers, CAT modeling teams

Environmental Alerts API

Push notifications and webhook alerts for threshold breaches in air quality, pollen levels, and active fire proximity. Enabled proactive outreach by insurers to policyholders in high-risk zones.

Target Users: Carriers, insurtech platforms, smart home integrators

Heatmap Tile Overlay API

PNG tile overlays for air quality and pollen heatmaps, suitable for embedding in GIS mapping and risk visualization dashboards.
