Overview

Indium, The Uncommon Agency Network, was founded in 2005 out of the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) of Ohio with a clear mission: help independent insurance agents stay independent. Unlike traditional agency networks driven by outside investors, Indium is 100% member-owned and directed by independent agents themselves -- funded by more than 70 independent agents and PIA organizations across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

The network provides independent agencies with the market access, technology tools, and operational support that would otherwise require the scale of a large organization. Member agencies retain complete ownership of 100% of their business written through Indium, with no non-compete clause, no first right of refusal, and no hidden fees.

Indium currently supports over 500 agency partners across seven states who have collectively placed more than USD 50 million in written premium with carrier partners. In early 2025, the company appointed Katherine Ternes as Chief Executive Officer and Sydney Roe as Head of Revenue, signaling continued investment in growth.
