Overview

Surefyre is a cloud-based agent portal and underwriting workbench platform built for managing general agents (MGAs), managing general underwriters (MGUs), program administrators, and wholesalers. Founded in 2017 by Alex Bautista and Dustin Torres, the company set out to replace fragmented, manual submission and underwriting workflows with a fully configurable, API-connected platform.

The platform automates the complete policy lifecycle -- from application intake and rating through quoting, approval routing, and binding -- while integrating with existing policy administration systems and third-party data providers. Surefyre's low-code/no-code configuration model allows MGA operations teams to adapt workflows, branding, and product offerings without engineering resources.

In November 2024, Surefyre was acquired by Vertafore, a leading insurance technology provider, and now operates as a Vertafore product. The acquisition extended Vertafore's platform into the MGA and wholesale distribution segment, adding modern automation and AI capabilities to Vertafore's existing MGA portfolio.
