Overview

AssessMed is a Canada-wide independent medical evaluation (IME) company founded in 1991 and headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario. The company provides high-quality, evidence-based, and unbiased medical assessments for insurance claims, legal proceedings, and employer matters. AssessMed manages the complete evaluation process -- connecting clients with expert clinicians and regulated healthcare professionals, coordinating appointments, and delivering defensible reports.

In December 2019, AssessMed was acquired by Lifemark Health Group, a Canadian leader in community rehabilitation, workplace health, and medical assessment services backed by Audax Private Equity and Northleaf Capital Partners. AssessMed continues to operate as a distinct division of Lifemark Health Group under the leadership of President Don Kunkel. In May 2023, AssessMed expanded its Quebec presence by acquiring ExpertMed Solutions, a Laval-based medical assessments firm specializing in occupational medicine and health and safety assessments.

The company is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and operates offices in more than 10 cities across Canada, including Mississauga, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Hamilton, London, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and St. John's.
