Overview

Clear Blue Insurance Group is a specialty fronting carrier providing property and casualty insurance programs for managing general agents (MGAs). Founded in 2015 by insurance industry veterans led by CEO Jerome Breslin, the company was built to serve the program business market with deep underwriting expertise, broad reinsurance access, and full carrier operational capabilities.

The company has grown to support USD 1.9 billion in gross written premium across 34 active programs, partnering with 28 MGA partners and 150+ global reinsurance partners. Clear Blue is broadly licensed in Washington D.C. and 49 U.S. states (all except Alaska). The group consists of five entities: Clear Blue Financial Holdings LLC (parent), Clear Blue Insurance Services Inc. (NC), Clear Blue Insurance Services Puerto Rico LLC, Clear Blue Insurance Company (Illinois), and Clear Blue Specialty Insurance Company (North Carolina).

Backed by Pine Brook Partners -- a financial services-focused private equity firm managing over USD 6.0 billion in limited partner commitments -- Clear Blue received a USD 250M equity commitment in 2018 to support its expansion in the program carrier market.
