Overview

GapOnly is a point-of-care pet insurance claims platform operated by PetSure (Australia) Pty Ltd, Australia's only general insurer solely dedicated to pet insurance. Launched in 2021, GapOnly enables pet owners to settle their insurance claim in real time while still at the veterinary clinic -- paying only the "gap" (the difference between the vet invoice and the eligible insurance benefit) rather than paying the full bill upfront and waiting for reimbursement. Claims are assessed and responded to in approximately 10 minutes with no paperwork.

PetSure has been the market leader in Australian pet insurance administration since its founding in 1996. In March 2023, PetSure obtained its own APRA general insurance licence, becoming the first insurer in Australia fully dedicated to pet insurance. PetSure powers the pet insurance propositions of 25+ brands, covering nearly half a million people across Australia and New Zealand, and processes over one million claims annually -- paying out approximately AUD 1.2 million daily in veterinary reimbursements and covering treatment costs for around 4,000 pets every day.

GapOnly is available at more than 1,200 participating veterinary clinics and specialist hospitals across Australia. For every GapOnly claim processed, AUD 1 is donated to fund SafetyNet PetAssist, a free 24-hour vet telehealth service that provides subsidised urgent in-clinic care for vulnerable pet owners.

GapOnly Claims Platform

A real-time, paperless pet insurance claims processing service integrated directly into participating veterinary clinic workflows. When a pet owner presents with a GapOnly-ready policy, the vet submits the claim from their practice management system. PetSure assesses and responds within approximately 10 minutes, providing the gap amount the owner must pay. The benefit payment flows directly to the practice.
