Insurance Data Processing (IDP) is one of the oldest insurtech companies in the United States, founded in 1949 as a nonprofit cooperative by six mutual insurance companies and a reinsurance broker. Over more than 75 years, IDP evolved from a cooperative data processing bureau into a modern, cloud-based software and services company for property and casualty insurers.
IDP provides integrated policy administration, claims, billing, and analytics solutions, along with bureau reporting and information protection services. The company specializes in serving small to mid-sized P&C carriers, residual market plans, and program administrators. IDP maintains exceptional customer longevity with an average client relationship spanning 17 years, with some customers dating back to the company's founding -- New Castle Mutual Insurance Company has been a customer since 1949 and Franklin Mutual Insurance Company since 1953.
In February 2025, Martin & Company acquired IDP's bureau reporting and COMPASS analytics platform, continuing the rapid growth of both organizations.
