Overview

itel (ITEL Laboratories) is a property claims data and analytics company that provides insurance carriers, adjusters, and third-party administrators with real-time material pricing, repair-versus-replace analysis, and material matching solutions. Founded in 1993 as a small carpet analysis laboratory in Jacksonville, Florida, the company has grown into a recognized industry standard used by all the top 100 carriers in North America, supporting over two million property insurance claims annually.

itel operates a proprietary building materials database covering more than 20,000 products and 6.7 million data points, continuously updated with current pricing and retail availability. Its solutions integrate directly into leading estimating platforms -- most notably Verisk Xactimate -- enabling adjusters to access localized, accurate pricing without leaving their existing workflows.

In May 2025, itel was acquired by Nearmap, a property intelligence company and Thoma Bravo portfolio company, in a transaction valued at approximately USD 1.3 billion. The combined entity aims to deliver end-to-end property intelligence spanning underwriting and claims. itel CEO Brian Matthews continues to lead the company and joined the Board of Directors of the combined company.
